In 2015 Speyside Bourbon Cooperage Inc., came to Jackson, Ohio where it established its’ first new barrel cooperage in the United States. It is the first Speyside facility to focus solely on the production of new, charred, white oak barrels for the bourbon industry. The cooperage became the first of its kind in the nation to utilize new methods which married state of the art technology and modern manufacturing to the age-old craft of coopering -- creating a world class bourbon barrel.

Atkins, VA - Cooperage

In September of 2018, Speyside announced the acquisition of the former Merillat facility in Atkins, VA for the purpose of building a second, cooperage for the production of bourbon barrels. This is the first Speyside facility of this type in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Marrying state-of-the-art technology with the ages old craft of coopering; this facility is arguably the most modern cooperage of its type in the world.

Stave Mill Locations

Waverly, OH - Stave Mill

In August of 2018, Speyside purchased an existing stave mill in Waverly, Ohio with whom it had been doing business. The two facilities (North and South) continue to provide Speyside with high-quality white oak staves to be used in the production of bourbon barrels.

Millboro Industrial Park

Millboro, VA - Stave Mill

We opened our first bourbon stave mill in the spring of 2018. This state of the art facility, engineered for maximum productivity and safety, was built in the Millboro Industrial Park, in Bath County Virginia. It was the first facility of its kind to receive both an AFID planning Grant and an AFID facilities grant.

Glade Spring, VA - Stave Mill

In September of 2018, Speyside announced the acquisition of 80 acres within the Highlands Business Park, Glade Springs, VA for the purpose of building a second, stave mill in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Stave Mill opened in the Spring of 2020 and will provide staves for the Speyside Bourbon Cooperage located in Atkins, VA.

Manchester, KY - Stave Mill
